Euriel's history

We live on the Central West Coast of Mexico in a small farming community. Euriel has his shirt open in the photo. Nearest town is Melaque, Jalisco.

Euriel spent the first two years of his life on his back.   He wasn't able to walk until after four.   His mom thinks it may have been related to some inoculations she got when pregnant.  Euriel was the first of three kids.   The closest I can describe what he has is a mild form of Cerebral palsy.

Euriel started school a year late simply because of movement problems.  Luckily in our little community  of Pinal Villa the Primary school  is only 3 blocks from his house and he was able to go with help the first year or two.   He didn't attend kindergarten.

The problem now is the only Secondary school in our area is two miles away in Melaque making it impossible for him to walk.   Then it is further complicated by his parents not having a car or motor bike to transport him.   The only solution available was for me to become his bus driver.  He was accepted at the  CAM school for physical therapy for a few months but that meant 3 trips a day for me and he was becoming exhausted from the back and forth.  Better to do learned exercises at home and just go to school.

"Euri" just finished his first year in Secondaria with me as driver.  I think he is adjusting to the new kids and environment which has been pretty limited up to now.   The family still does not have enough money for a car  or motor bike so I will continue to drive ... but they could really use some help with school supplies and uniforms this coming school year.   It might help them to get ahead enough to buy some transportation.

I will post updates and certainly thank anyone that contributes/donates to keeping Euriel in school.
Thanks

Euriel is ready to register for Prepa (Highschool) this month for the following August classes. We find that there is a one time registration fee of 550 pesos plus a few small start up fees. That is a big chunk for the family now and school supplies will wait a few months.

Euriel has a number of disabilities but number one is motor control making it impossible for him to walk 2 miles to school in Melaque. I have been his school bus driver this last 3 years because his parents can't afford a car or motor bike.

His oldest sister is doing fine in Secondary and the youngest will start kindergarten both needing uniforms
Thanks
